If you’re considering getting married at Lake Como, here are a few things to keep in mind as you plan your big day.
Step 1 – Planning Your Lake Como Wedding: Logistics
First and foremost, it’s important to consider the logistics of getting married in a foreign country (we wrote some practical info here). You can decide if you want to have a symbolic ceremony, or if you want to get a license in Italy: it’s up to you. It’s also a good idea to hire a wedding planner who is familiar with the local regulations and can help you navigate the process.
Step 2 – For Planning Your Lake Como Wedding: Your Wedding Venue
Next, you’ll need to decide on a venue for your ceremony and reception. When choosing your wedding venue on Lake Como, consider the capacity, the position, the indoor and outdoor spaces (yes, it’s good to have a strong plan B), but above all, follow your heart and choose something that makes you fall in love.
Step 3 – For Planning Your Lake Como Wedding: Get Your Photographer
Ok, you have your date, your venue… it’s time to go on with all the other vendors. This includes choosing a wedding gown and attire for the rest of the wedding party, selecting a florist and decor, and hiring a photographer and videographer to capture the day. You’ll also need to decide on a menu and hire a caterer, as well as choose a DJ or live band for the reception.

Step 4 – For Planning Your Lake Como Wedding: Book Your Stay
You can stay either on your wedding venue, or in a close apartment or Airbnb if you want to save money. Our tip is to consider to sleep on the same spot of your wedding day at least the night before and after the big day, so you can relax and enjoy the day at your best.
Step 5 – For Planning Your Lake Como Wedding: Plan B
As you start to finalize your plans, don’t forget to consider the weather in Lake Como. The best months for having a wedding in Lake Como are April-May and September-October: it’s not too hot, and not too cold. But of course it’s impossible to predict when it will rain, so choose a place that can accommodate all of your guests inside in case of a plan B.
