Italy elopement: all reasons why you should do it

At this point in our career we’ve seen all kind of weddings: big dancing weddings, small intimate ceremonies, weddings among the vineyards and in the mountains… but we’re always particularly fond of an elopement in Italy. We REALLY love this kind of celebration: just two loving souls, an amazing landscape… a classic love is in the air situation.

And Italy is indeed a beautiful and romantic country that has long been a popular destination for couples who want to elope. There are so many reasons why Italy is a great place to elope: its stunning landscapes, rich history and culture, and -of course!- delicious food.

But if you’re not convinced yet, we’re here to give you a few reasons why you might want to consider eloping in Italy: you can thank us later!

Italy is home to some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world: are you thinking to elope on the rolling hills of Tuscany (think of landscapes from “The Gladiator”)? Or maybe you dream of a wedding set on a stunningly beautiful coastline, such as the Italian Riviera?

Or maybe you would prefer enjoying some fantastic wine with your partner and chilling together in the vineyards of Piedmont! And for the most adventurous of all, why not choosing the Italian Alps, hiking and reaching a truly spectacular mountaintop?

Whether you want to exchange vows in a sunny vineyard, on a cliff overlooking the ocean, or in a medieval hilltop castle, Italy has something for everyone.

Italy is a country with a rich and fascinating history, and you can find evidence of this everywhere you go. And, in case you’re wondering, as Italians we never get tired of all this beauty: be it ancient ruins, stunning cathedrals or old countryside estates, there is no shortage of beautiful and historic venues where you can elope.

You can choose places such as Abbazia di San Galgano, the world famous church without a roof; or maybe you can have your elopement in ancient villa, surrounded by old art, paintings and statues.

You can also go for an elopement in a city like Florence, Turin, or Venice, and take some beautiful photos of the two of you in the streets, exploring together and enjoying the city life and ancient facades all around you. Your options are really unlimited!

Well, this is an easy one (and we’re true experts on the subject!). Italy is known for its delicious cuisine, and you can find some of the best food in the world here.

Whether you want to enjoy a traditional Italian meal, or try more particular local specialties, you won’t be disappointed.

Since the elopement is about the two of you and nothing else, meals on your wedding day are very important: it’s something that you’ll always remember. Choose a region that is known for something that you’d love to try…you’ll not be disappointed!

Italy can be an affordable destination for an elopement, especially if you are willing to travel off the beaten path: for example, if you love mountains you can find some beautiful -but very cheap- places in Piedmont or Abruzzo (check one of our elopements on the Alps in Piedmont here!).

You can also find affordable accommodation and transportation options, and save money by opting for a simple, intimate ceremony rather than a large, formal wedding.

Since Italy is a very common destination for elopements, there are many companies and wedding planners in Italy who can help you plan it (like this one, for example), making it easy to have a stress-free and enjoyable experience.

You can choose to have a simple ceremony with just the two of you, or invite a few close friends and family members to join you and having a intimate wedding: it’s all up to you!

Italy is a naturally romantic country, with its stunning landscapes, delicious food, and rich history and culture. Whether you are strolling through the winding streets of a charming Italian village, or enjoying a glass of wine with a beautiful sunset as a backdrop, you will definitely find the romantic side you were expecting from Italy.

Ok, you eloped: congratulations! And now? After you elope in Italy, you can stay and enjoy a romantic honeymoon in this beautiful country. From exploring the ancient ruins of Rome to soaking up the sun on the beaches of the Amalfi Coast, there is no shortage of things to see and do see in Italy.

Last tip: if you want to save some money and have a great result an Airbnb home can be an excellent choice for your elopement in Italy!
